The English Football Association confirmed on Wednesday that Fabio Capello has resigned as England’s Manager.

This announcement followed a meeting involving FA Chairman David Bernstein, Alex Horne the FA General Secretary and Fabio Capello at Wembley Stadium.

“We have accepted Fabio’s resignation, and we agree this is the right decision. We would like to thank Fabio for all his work with the England team and we wish him every success in the future,” said David Bernstein.

A media conference with the Club England Management team and David Bernstein will take place at Wembley at 1200 GMT on Thursday.

The FA made the decision to remove John Terry from his current captain role on Feb 3 in England pending the outcome of his case in July, nearly one week following the European Championship.

Terry, the 31-year-old England and Chelsea captain, was charged to have offended the Queens Park Rangers player Anton Ferdinand with racist language in a league match on October 23 of last year.

The shock resignation of Capello was regarded as a huge blow to the England team as there are only four months left before this June’s big tournament.
