The search for missing Texas teen Sharon West came to a heart-breaking end, according to police. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office stated Friday that human remains discovered in October have been positively identified as those of the 14-year-old girl who had been missing for almost 6 months. The Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office was able to use dental records to identify the remains, police stated.

West was last observed alive on July 30, 2011. She had been residing with family friends in Fannett, an unincorporated town approximately an hour northeast of Houston. Her living arrangements there were temporary while her mom was looking for a job.

Austin Meaux, the young woman’s boyfriend, had last seen her at the residence in the 11100 Block of Gaulding Road at about 2:00 a.m. He stated that she was awake and was still there when the rest of the family went to bed.

In line with what Chuck Foreman said, a private investigator based out of Austin helping the family, West sent a text message to a friend at about 5:20 a.m., and she said she was at the Seabreeze Youth Club’s soccer field next to Highway 365, a couple of miles from where she was living.

Approximately 40 minutes later, West used her cellphone to get ahold of another friend. She again gave the indication that she was at the soccer field. The area is a popular hangout area for young people, according to police,. West didn’t contact any other friends after that and her cellphone died a short time thereafter.
